The Wind Whispered in My Ear

Psithurism – the sound the wind makes through the trees, the sound of leaves rustling and dancing as the wind blows, a soft whisper in your ears.”

I’m so glad that I actually did what I intended to do; walking around the Harvard Arnold Arboretum. One of the best choices I had made all week. It is a bit late in the season to catch the colors, but I was lucky there were still some colors in them. Sometimes when you are in the city for too long, it is difficult not to feel overwhelmed with everything. That is why I like to go here to collect my thoughts and just absorb everything. This is not really out in the mountains, however, I like the fact I do not see a lot of people and I do not hear sirens or cars passing by. I am grateful for that. Being here just makes me realize how grateful I am to be where I am right now. Enjoying the little things and being content. There will be a lot of obstacles and many things not working out how you pictured it to, but like Dory would say “just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming.”

A Quick Stop

image

I love the days where things happened spontaneously. It’s a good day when I get to stop by one of my favorite bookstore, Brattle Book Shop. It is one of the oldest bookstores in Boston, not only is it different but it is very similar to thrifting. We would have to dig through all the racks outside for a good read, but sometime you just stumbled upon one. I found some really good ones just by looking through the shelves. That’s the best isn’t it? I think Boston need more bookstores around the downtown area and more of a sitting area just so one can enjoy a quick read.

Each of my books are $1, what a steal! I am not sure but I am always interested in reading books about the King Henry V period. Maybe it is adding to my addiction towards Game of Thrones even though they are nowhere connected to one another. And I have always been a fan of Elie Wiesel ever since I read his book, NightThe book just captured you and bring you straight to the events of the holocaust. He is very descriptive and the details of everything that occurred him during the Holocaust. I am not sure if I will ever have the will power to survive it that happen to me.

“Fika” Days

(n.) a social coffee break with one’s colleagues, friends, date or family, usually accompanied with sweet, baked goods.

I tried to be girly, so I decided to wear heels thinking I can do it. But little did you know, I had to pay the price. The saying was true, one suffers to look pretty (or in my case, tried to look to pretty). That was exactly what happened, I ended up with multiple blisters. I learned my lesson.

When juggling four jobs and going to school full-time, I value every little time I can get to spend it with the people I care about. Even if it means a quick brunch, a late dinner and some late night snack at a cafe all squeezed into two days. So be it because that is life sometimes.

Babí léto

The perfect way to say goodbye to summer and hello fall (a new semester as well).

Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness

Technically, summer is not over until mid-September but who are we kidding. Boston’s weather is so bipolar that we cannot even guess what the afternoon would it be like. It would rain in the morning and during the afternoon, the sun’s shining ray beams welcomes you. The humidity is heavy, moist and suffocating. It could be unbearable at times.

I’m just really excited for fall, my favorite season of the year. The vibrant colors when the leaves changes colors. The strenuous but rewarding hikes that are waiting for me to venture throughout this fall. Not only that, but fall fashion is the best. The many layers, socks, Oxford’s, and scarves I get to wear.  Just thinking about it makes me smile. That is why I am forever grateful that my dad decided to choose a state that have four seasons instead of just having summer/fall/spring all mixed into one.

How was your summer? Are you ending it with a bang? Or are you just like me and working the last day of summer away?

I love when it rains in the city, everything is calm and quiet. Perfect picture day.

As I am sitting here sipping my first hot vanilla soy latte (from Starbucks of course) of the season and listening to Erykah Badu. I think it is a perfect way to spend a rainy Labor day.

(n.) lit. “old hag’s summer”; a short period between summer and autumn, when the weather is still sunny, but not hot, the leaves begin to change color to yellow and little strings of spider webs are floating in the air.
