秋思

Image

You should be grateful for everything you have every single day of your life and not just in the month of November. The only thing I’ve seen the last couple weeks was red and Christmas. November is not even halfway, Thanksgiving is not even here yet and everywhere you go, you see Christmas in some advertisement. It makes me wonder what people think of the holiday season. Is it a season to just give gifts and be materialistic? Or why does it need to be some kind of holiday to be grateful for what you have? I’m grateful to be able to wake up every single day on a bed with a blanket over me. While there are many out there trying to keep warm sleeping outside TD Bank North or at some corner of a building. I’m grateful that I have food to eat and clothes to wear. Many of us take advantage of what was given to them and they don’t realize that there are people who is less fortunate. It’s a blessing to be alive. One of the many things I’m grateful for is friends who is willing to listen to me vent. I am grateful for this girl and many others that is in my life right now. Thank you for dealing with my randomness. Remember that not everyone is lucky enough to have friends who will listen to you and be there for you. Therefore, you should be thankful every single day of your life, not just for the month of November. I am all over the place in this post, that’s what red wine does to you.

“Shuushi” “autumnal melancholy”; a feeling of deep sadness associated with the autumn season. The sadness associated with seeing the leaves changing their colors, and beginning to fall – it means that the dark, cold months of winter are inching ever closer, day by day.

The Wind Whispered in My Ear

Psithurism – the sound the wind makes through the trees, the sound of leaves rustling and dancing as the wind blows, a soft whisper in your ears.”

I’m so glad that I actually did what I intended to do; walking around the Harvard Arnold Arboretum. One of the best choices I had made all week. It is a bit late in the season to catch the colors, but I was lucky there were still some colors in them. Sometimes when you are in the city for too long, it is difficult not to feel overwhelmed with everything. That is why I like to go here to collect my thoughts and just absorb everything. This is not really out in the mountains, however, I like the fact I do not see a lot of people and I do not hear sirens or cars passing by. I am grateful for that. Being here just makes me realize how grateful I am to be where I am right now. Enjoying the little things and being content. There will be a lot of obstacles and many things not working out how you pictured it to, but like Dory would say “just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming.”

“Fika” Days

(n.) a social coffee break with one’s colleagues, friends, date or family, usually accompanied with sweet, baked goods.

I tried to be girly, so I decided to wear heels thinking I can do it. But little did you know, I had to pay the price. The saying was true, one suffers to look pretty (or in my case, tried to look to pretty). That was exactly what happened, I ended up with multiple blisters. I learned my lesson.

When juggling four jobs and going to school full-time, I value every little time I can get to spend it with the people I care about. Even if it means a quick brunch, a late dinner and some late night snack at a cafe all squeezed into two days. So be it because that is life sometimes.

Sun-kissed

We are blessed with a not just a beautiful day but a perfect day! The humidity levels are not suffocating, surprisingly, (that was a mouthful) and the fact that it did not rain either was a blessing. We do not get nice days like these often, so we have to take advantage of it. Even though I was stuck inside all day at my CC (community college). I reminded myself that it will still be beautiful out when I get out of classes. People tend to be grumpy and less forgiving due to a stressful work week or day at school. Therefore, I like to think that the weather can control our emotions. It can be an add-on to the heavy load or completely turn it around. Everyone deserves one less stressors in their day.

“Watch and Follow” – How do you commute to work or college or anywhere? We do not have the best public transportation here, but I am not complaining (only when the train breaks down causing me to be late). But in order to get to my CC everyday, I get a ride to the train station and from there I have to switch one more time to a different train. What I love about Boston is that everywhere is easily accessible. You can basically take the train anywhere!

“Watch and Follow” – What is home to you?

Seeing my dad’s homemade flower gate; his colorful garden which varies from herbs, squashes, vegetables and flowers. That’s part of what I think home is to me, seeing something familiar. It is comforting knowing that you have this place to go back to if all fails.

Babí léto

The perfect way to say goodbye to summer and hello fall (a new semester as well).

Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness

Technically, summer is not over until mid-September but who are we kidding. Boston’s weather is so bipolar that we cannot even guess what the afternoon would it be like. It would rain in the morning and during the afternoon, the sun’s shining ray beams welcomes you. The humidity is heavy, moist and suffocating. It could be unbearable at times.

I’m just really excited for fall, my favorite season of the year. The vibrant colors when the leaves changes colors. The strenuous but rewarding hikes that are waiting for me to venture throughout this fall. Not only that, but fall fashion is the best. The many layers, socks, Oxford’s, and scarves I get to wear.  Just thinking about it makes me smile. That is why I am forever grateful that my dad decided to choose a state that have four seasons instead of just having summer/fall/spring all mixed into one.

How was your summer? Are you ending it with a bang? Or are you just like me and working the last day of summer away?

I love when it rains in the city, everything is calm and quiet. Perfect picture day.

As I am sitting here sipping my first hot vanilla soy latte (from Starbucks of course) of the season and listening to Erykah Badu. I think it is a perfect way to spend a rainy Labor day.

(n.) lit. “old hag’s summer”; a short period between summer and autumn, when the weather is still sunny, but not hot, the leaves begin to change color to yellow and little strings of spider webs are floating in the air.
